Hollywood Legend Clint Eastwood Just Revealed His Thoughts On The GOP Candidates…Here’s Who He Likes

Clint Eastwood made his political leanings crystal clear when he appeared at the 2012 National Republican Convention and famously chatted on stage with President Barack Obama’s empty chair. So what Eastwood said in a recent interview on the TV show “Extra” came as no surprise, when reporter Mario Lopes asked the legendary actor and director his thoughts about the current GOP field for president.

“I haven’t made any selection ’cause there’s quite a few of them,” the 85-year-old Hollywood icon commented. “I think there’s quite a few of them that are really good people.”

That’s when Lopez asked him about specific candidates, beginning with GOP pacesetter Donald Trump:

“It’s an unusual thing he’s done so far. I think people are looking for somebody that’s outspoken and who isn’t afraid, and he seems to have a fearless attitude, he’s great.”

Eastwood went on to offer his opinion about some of the other candidates, in particular, retired pediatric neurosurgeon, Ben Carson. The performer said that he liked the soft-spoken Carson “’cause he’s a kind of common sense guy and also doesn’t seem to be afraid.”

The film star added that at least four Republican presidential candidates — referring also to Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz — “would make a better commander-in-chief than what we have at present.”

Eastwood is currently directing his latest film, based on the life of retired Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, the heroic airline pilot who successfully set down a disabled jet carrying 155 passengers in the Hudson River in 2009
