Rosie O’Donnell’s Desperate Martial Law Idea

The actress Rosie O’Donnell has proposed martial law in order to prevent Donald Trump from being sworn in as president on Jan. 20. The comedian previously tweeted she wanted to “stop” the inauguration and was also forced to apologize to future first lady Melania Trump after suggesting that Trump’s son, Barron, was autistic.

“I FULLY SUPPORT IMPOSING MARTIAL LAW – DELAYING THE INAUGURATION – UNTIL TRUMP IS ‘CLEARED’ OF ALL CHARGES,” O’Donnell tweeted on Wednesday, linking to another tweet from @MasterMarquette suggesting martial law. @MasterMarquette’s twitter description includes the words “#TrumpTreason.”

O’Donnell did not specify what charges against Trump needed to be investigated — but she seems to be interested in recent salacious (and some outright fake) regarding a connection between Russia and the DNC digital hack.

“He cheated - and its not about hillary - its about delaying the swearing him in - til we investigate all charges,” O’Donnell said in a follow-up tweet (all grammar and punctuation errors hers).

Since tweeting about martial law, O’Donnell has been retweeting followers — she has over 900,000 — who support her idea. “Why are people opposed to ensuring American solvency and democracy? I'm with you Rosie, let's make sure everything is clear first,” tweeted one individual.

In response to those questioning the idea of martial law in a free country, O’Donnell suggested the GOP pick a Republican senator to act as president for one month. “TRANSPARENCY IS VITAL,” she wrote.

O’Donnell joins a handful of other celebrities who are doing their level best to suggest fantasy worlds in which Donald Trump does not reach the White House. A celebrity video that included people like Martin Sheen previously tried to convince the Electoral College to not confirm the American people’s votes for Trump.

Actor Charlie Sheen has already suggested “impeachment” shortly after the president-elect takes office, and Michael Moore has been trying to get cameras focused his way by saying things like he’s going to “disrupt the inauguration.”

O’Donnell’s suggestion of martial law, however, is the most extreme suggestion yet from any anti-Trump public figure. People across the country, no matter their political persuasion, know that if conservative public figures had acted like this when Obama was being sworn into office, they would be labelled treasonous and un-American.

Imagine a world in which an outspoken conservative celebrity suggested martial law to oppose President Obama's entry into the Oval Office. Or imagine people saying they would “disrupt” Obama's inauguration. Or if they said “impeachment” would be coming soon. Not only would the mainstream media be vilifying that person endlessly, there would be serious consequences and potentially even legal action.

Celebrities like O’Donnell, however, seem to think they are above such consequences — and her words and actions are already taking away from any credibility she had left.
