Hollywood thinks the Golden Globes didn't bash Trump enough via @NYPost

It turns out the problem with the Golden Globes was that emcee Jimmy Fallon didn’t do enough Trump-bashing. Wow: If Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel “avoids” that “mistake” next month, expect Americans to flip the channel by the millions.

No joke: Deadline Hollywood critic Dominic Patten complains, “Fallon . . . stayed far off the political field,” perhaps out of “fear of a scathing tweet from” Trump.

Which left “winners and presenters to remind America that Hillary Clinton-leaning Hollywood knew there had been an election last year — and that their candidate lost.” As if anyone even in deepest flyover country needs reminding of Hollywood’s politics.

Then again, the crowd cheered Meryl Streep’s Trumpocalypse Now speech, so Patten likely speaks for Tinseltown.

In fact, Fallon felt obliged to toss in a few lame Trump jokes. But at least he generally resists the late-night-comedy trend toward nonstop liberalism.

When will Hollywood stop doubling down on its bubble? An entertainer’s job is to entertain. A steady diet of smug lectures, or bitterly partisan jokes, does neither — certainly not for the average Joe or Jane looking for an evening of escape.

How did the nation’s top talent come to think there’s something wrong with trying to entertain all of America?
