Despite ISIS Videos, FBI Says There's No Credible Threat to US

In the wake of the Paris attacks, ISIS released propaganda videos threatening that both Washington, D.C. and New York City were next, promising they would turn the White House “black with our fire.”

But speaking to reporters on Thursday FBI Director James Comey said the agency was “not aware of any credible threats here of a Paris-style attack.” He also said there was no connection between the attackers in Paris and the U.S.

“ISIL and its supporters put out all types of propaganda, like videos and magazines,” he added. “But that is not credible intelligence.”

He followed up by saying that they will investigate the propaganda but their focus remains on “troubled souls in America that are being inspired or enabled online to do something for ISIL.”

Earlier this week CIA Director John Brennan said it’s likely the terrorist organization has other attacks in the works, but that the targets would likely be in Europe, not America.

“I certainly would not consider it a one-off event,” he said. “I would anticipate that this is not the only operation that ISIL has in the pipeline.
