Obama torches 20,000 gallons of gas to warn that 'fossil fuel interests' are conspiring against 'clean energy'

President Obama went to the Clean Energy Summit in Las Vegas on Monday, and he didn't ride his bike:

After he got to Vegas, Obama alleged that there's some sort of conspiracy to keep consumers from using that which simply does not exist on a broad scale:

President Barack Obama on Monday accused fossil fuel interests and other critics of his energy policies of trying to restrict consumers from accessing solar, wind and other renewable sources in order to protect the status quo.

"That's not the American way," Obama said in a speech at a green energy conference in Las Vegas. "This is about the past versus the future. America believes in the future."

It was a retooled version of the speeches Obama gave when he was pitching Solyndra, but at least he was recycling. Entire cities aren't powered by grids that operate on solar, wind or geothermal not because of "fossil fuel interest" conspiracies, but rather for the same reason Obama didn't land at McCarran in a presidential jumbo jet that runs on kumquats: No such delivery system exists.

But it's all the Koch brothers' fault said Obama, as an excited Harry Reid'ssunglasses fogged up just offstage:

The president also questioned the ideological consistency of those who champion free-market solutions, except when the free market is pointing to the wisdom of renewable energy. He singled out billionaire brothers Charles and David Koch, who are major donors to Republican political candidates.

Obama prefers the more workable "free market" clean energy solutions supported by progressive billionaires like Tom Steyer. How's that worked out in California
