Fiscal Responsibility ~ Limited Government ~ Free Markets

Dear Kylaw74,

As the scandals of the Obama administration unfold President Regan's statement that "freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction" keeps ringing in my ears.  The founders of our country realized the dangers of a democracy and established a republic with many checks and balances.  Obama and the progressive do-gooders have lulled us to sleep and now the police state is closing in upon us.  The heavy hand of government is now in our homes recording our phone conversations, tracking our every mouse click and following our emails.  Those that think the constitution is an outdated document and the principles are outdated must reconsider as it was Benjamin Franklin that said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."  Take some time to reflect on the previous two quotes and then read this article where Obama says, "You can't have 100 percent security and also then have 100 percent privacy and zero inconvenience."

Liberty is protected by our constitution.  Obama and the progressives have a mission to destroy the constitution.  Those that think they are defending liberty by supporting legislation such as the Patriot Act are actually strengthening the hand of Obama and the progressives. Their intentions are good but the results will be disastrous.  They are playing into the hands of evil.

The contrast between the Obama progressives and Senator Rand Paul and the liberty movement is clear.   In this article, the Obama machine is unleashing the full force of the government to file criminal charges on the individuals that exposed the government spying operation that violates the constitution. Obama is using the police state to strengthen his position and power.  Contrast this with Senator Rand Paul who is taking action to protect the Constitution and the Fourth Amendment as he believes it is as relevant today as it was when it was adopted on December 15, 1791.

"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

This one sentence is what stands between liberty and tyranny.  The Obama administration and the progressives are destroying our country one sentence at a time.  When Thomas Jefferson says "Let no more be said about the confidence of men, but bind them down from mischief with the chains of the Constitution" he is warning us about the consequences of destroying or removing the chains of the constitution.  Hitler had the chains of his constitution removed  with the Enabling Act in 1933.  We not only need to pray but we need to act to ensure that Obama's chains are not removed under the guise of the Patriot Act.

McConnell's Immigration Pickle                                                       by Jonathan Strong

The debate rages on and the Senate minority leader is caught in the middle, pleasing no one. Immigration is an issue that deeply divides the GOP conference, and Senator Mitch McConnell is in the middle. If he picks a side, it will anger the other one. And no matter what he does, his every action will be scrutinized. The issue weighs heavily in the minds of GOP primary voters. And since the tea-party wave of 2010 put the fear of a primary challenge into the heart of every Republican incumbent, even a master strategist such as McConnell, who is up for reelection in 2014, must factor it into his campaign approach.  Read the National Review article here.

Fellow Patriots

The Senate is at it again with the Schumer-Rubio 1,000+ page amnesty bill (S.744), ramming it through the Senate with no reading of the bill and no public debate! It needs to be stopped in the Senate, BEFORE it ever gets to the House.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has said that he will not stand in the way of the bill coming to the floor. Unbelievable! That could be our only chance to stop it! We MUST use EVERY opportunity to thwart the destruction of our nation. WHY does McConnell plan to sit idle?

Top 40 Reasons to Oppose the Gang of Eight Amnesty Bill          (S. 744)

By Federation for American Immigration Reform- June 5, 2013

In April 2013, Senators Chuck Schumer (D-NY), Dick Durbin (D-IL), Michael Bennet (D-CO), Bob Menendez (D-NJ), John McCain (R-AZ), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), and Marco Rubio (R-FL) introduced S.744, otherwise known as the Gang of Eight immigration bill. S.744 grants amnesty to the approximately 12 million illegal aliens in the U.S. and dramatically increases legal immigration, while doing virtually nothing to improve border security or immigration enforcement.

In May, the Senate Judiciary Committee debated the Gang of Eight bill. While the Committee accepted numerous amendments, none changed the core provisions of the bill and many amendments made the bill worse. In the end, the Judiciary Committee approved the bill, as amended, by a vote of 13-5. The Senate will likely take up the bill on the floor in early June.

To help educate the American people and lawmakers, FAIR has set forth 40 reasons why Americans should oppose S.744. We believe this list will illustrate how the Gang of Eight bill does exactly what Americans don't want and nothing that they do want.

IRS’s Shulman Had More Public White House Visits Than any Cabinet Member

Shulman’s extensive access to the White House first came to light during his testimony last week before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Shulman gave assorted answers when asked why he had visited the White House 118 times during the period that the IRS was targeting tea party and conservative nonprofits for extra scrutiny and delays on their tax-exempt applications.

VisitsBy contrast, Shulman’s predecessor Mark Everson only visited the White House once during four years of service in the George W. Bush administration and compared the IRS’s remoteness from the president to “Siberia.” But the scope of Shulman’s White House visits — which strongly suggests coordination by White House officials in the campaign against the president’s political opponents — is even more striking in comparison to the publicly recorded access of Cabinet members.  Read the Daily Caller article here.
