Trump: Obama-ISIS claim 'not that sarcastic'

By Harper Neidig - 08-12-16 15:28 PM EDT

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has again reframed his comments about President Obama being the founder of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), telling supporters in Erie, Pa., the claim was "not that sarcastic."

Speaking at a campaign rally, Trump lashed out at media critics who criticized his comments - first made Wednesday evening and reiterated Thursday - that Obama founded the Middle East terrorist group.

"Obviously I'm being sarcastic ... but not that sarcastic to be honest with you," Trump said Friday.

Early Friday morning, Trump had chastised critics on Twitter who didn't recognize "sarcasm" when they heard it.

Trump also blasted the "dishonest media" for overanalyzing his word choice, saying that they knew what he meant.

"These people are the lowest form of life," he said. "They are the lowest form of humanity. Not all of them, they have about 25 percent that are pretty good, actually."
