Higher Than Before 9/11: 60 Percent of Americans Believe Terrorists Are Likely Living In Their Communities

According to a recent poll conducted by Fox News, 60 percent of Americans believe terrorists are likely living in their hometowns, up from 58 percent before 9/11/2001.

Just two weeks ago FBI Director James Comey warned ISIS has been able to reach thousands of sympathetic followers, recruits and potential fighters inside the United States. Earlier this year, Comey warned domestic born ISIS fighters from the United States had traveled overseas to Iraq and Syria, received training and re-entered the homeland on western passports.

The interviewer Scott Pelley asks: 'How many Americans are fighting in Syria on the side of the terrorists?'

'In the area of a dozen or so,' Comey replied.

'Do you know who they are?'

Comey answers: 'Yes.'

Pelley then pressed: 'Each and every one of them?'

'I think of that, dozen or so, I do. I hesitate only because I don't know what I don't know,' Comey said.

He said: 'Ultimately, an American citizen, unless their passport's revoked, is entitled to come back. So, someone who's fought with ISIL, with American passport wants to come back, we will track them very carefully.'

Late last week, ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi released a new audio message calling on Muslims wherever they are to carry out jihad.

The leader of ISIS urged his extremist supporters to “erupt volcanoes of jihad” in an audio message posted to jihadist websites Thursday.

“O soldiers of the Islamic State, continue to harvest the soldiers,” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi said in the recording. “Erupt volcanoes of jihad everywhere. Light the Earth with fire.”

The upside is, Americans have confidence in the intelligence community to take care of the problem.
