Trump to Hit Pause on Refugee Crisis

President Donald Trump is set to issue a temporary refugee ban and suspend visas for Syrians and citizens of six other war torn Muslim countries on Wednesday.
“Big day planned on NATIONAL SECURITY tomorrow. Among many other things, we will build the wall!” Trump tweeted enthusiastically on Tuesday.
The visa suspension order will prevent visas being issued to those from Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Syria, Sudan, and Yemen
The refugee ban is expected to last for a number of months — until a more thorough vetting process can be implemented — but will make exceptions for religious minorities escaping persecution.
The visa suspension order will prevent visas being issued to those from Libya, Iran, Iraq, Somalia, Syria, Sudan and Yemen, congressional aides and immigration experts familiar with the matter told Reuters.
If Trump does indeed issue such orders on Wednesday, they will go far to fulfill his campaign promise of a more sensible and secure approach to the Muslim migrant crisis.
“I think [German Chancellor Angela Merkel] made one very catastrophic mistake and that was taking all of these illegals, you know taking all of the people from wherever they come from. And nobody even knows where they come from,” Trump said in an interview with the Times of London last week.
Merkel has been widely criticized for her approach to the Muslim migrant crisis, the crux of which was to throw open the gates and say “come in!” Germany and other countries in Europe are seeing shocking increases in violent crimes, rapes, and Islamic terrorist activity as a result.
Trump is clearly taking the exact opposite approach.
