Obama Predictably Makes The Orlando Gay Nightclub Islamic Terror Attack About Gun Control

I just watched President Obama’s news conference commenting on the massacre at the hands of a man who pledged allegiance to ISIS which claimed the lives of 50 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

While Obama said there could be “no definitive judgment on the precise motivation of the killer”, he spared no time in lecturing the nation about what he says as insufficient gun control in this country:

Today marks the most deadly shooting in American history. The shooter was armed with a handgun and a powerful assault rifle. This massacre is therefore a further reminder on how easy it is to get their hands on a weapon that lets them shoot people in a school, or in a house of worship or a movie theater or in a nightclub and we have to decide if that’s the kind of country we want to be and to actively do nothing is a decision as well.

Of course, President Obama tried to make the ISIS terrorist attack in San Bernardino about gun control as demonstrated with the town hall meeting he held on CNN back in January. But as I asked at the time:

Let’s be clear. No background check known to man would have prevented the San Bernardino attacks. To start with, the terrorists had a straw buyer. Then let’s add the fact the perpetrators were affiliated with ISIS, an organization which seeks to spill American blood. Do you think expanded background checks are going to deter ISIS in any way shape or form from killing Americans?

I would remind President Obama that France has far more stringent gun control. Yet those gun control provisions did nothing to stop ISIS terrorists from executing concert goers at The Bataclan last November.

Like all demagogues, President Obama looks for easy answers. What we have faced in New York, Fort Hood, Boston, Chattanooga, San Bernardino and now Orlando goes far beyond gun control. But so long as President Obama insists that ISIS isn’t Islamic we shall continue to fail to see and hear what is clearly standing before us.
