Trump broke debate rules: report

Trump broke debate rules: report
By Harper Neidig - 03-05-16 11:22 AM EST

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump broke the rules during Thursday night's Fox News GOP debate by consulting with his campaign manager during a commercial break, according to a CNN report.

The report cited unnamed sources from rival campaigns, who said the business mogul's campaign manager Corey Lewandowski came on stage to consult with him when the debate went to commercial.

A Fox News source also said Lewandowski refused to leave the stage when asked to do so by network staffers.

Fox representatives then allowed the other candidates to consult with campaign advisers to make it fair.

Thursday night was the latest example of Trump consulting with his campaign manager during debate commercials, even though it is expressly forbidden by the networks that have hosted debates, CNN reported.

It's unclear what the candidate and his adviser discussed during the commercial break, but at one point Trump gave a fax from the Better Business Bureau to the Fox moderators that showed that they had upgraded their grade for the now-defunct Trump University to an "A," though the last known grade for the school was a "D-."
