Breitbart News learned from an NYPD source that officers made no arrests Tuesday night, despite bottles being hurled at police and protesters committing other violations of the law. That’s how Mayor Bill de Blasio and Police Commissioner Bill Bratton wanted it, the source explained.
“Last night was an abortion–air mail. The bosses are weak. [They] Let them sh*t all over us. Real cowardly,” said the NYPD source. “This is part of a bigger picture,” the law enforcement source stated. “This was extremely well thought out… I’m thinking that the planning of this goes back to the campaign.”
This individual noted that at 125th St. and Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Blvd, police read protesters a lawful order to disperse at least “10 times” over a boom microphone before protesters left the area and continued marching.
The protest occurred after Mayor de Blasio asked that such activity cease until the funerals of NYPD Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu—who were killed Saturday in an execution-style shooting by a man similarly upset by the deaths of Eric Garner and Mike Brown—were over.
Anti-police protesters flooded 5th Avenue and marched into Harlem Tuesday night, blocking both pedestrian and vehicle traffic. “NYPD, KKK, how many kids did you kill today?” they shouted. Another NYPD source says that de Blasio and Bratton did not want NYPD making arrests for the traffic blockages or issuing citations for not having a permit for using amplified sound. “Sickening. No balls,” the source commented. No injuries were reported. The New York Daily News also reports no arrests were made known.
“Middle management—Lieutenant Sergeants and cops—[they’re] bitching about being held back,” this source explained. The individual said the instructions not to arrest were “more than likely intimated” rather than directly ordered by the mayor, “because the orders would have to come from Bratton to the police.”
The NYPD has been dealing with a number of threats and assaults on officers since Eric Garner died in July after NYPD Officer Daniel Pantaleo had him in a headlock during an attempted arrest in Staten Island. Pantaleo was not indicted for Garner’s death, setting off regular massive New York City anti-cop centered protests thereafter.
Additionally, it appears the gang activity from the Bed-Stuy and Bushwick neighborhoods of Brooklyn, where Liu and Ramos were murdered, has slowly made its way to the more upscale neighborhoods in Manhattan via the anti-cop protests.
The sidewalk at the nearby 88th precinct was spray painted with the words “kill Cops” on Tuesday night during the protests, and the 75th precinct received a bomb threat.
