RAND PAC Director: Rand Paul's Fundraising Strength Testament to Grassroots Support

RAND PAC Director: Rand Paul's Fundraising Strength Testament to Grassroots Support

on Wed, 15 Jan 2014

Showing that he may be a more formidable contender than his father should he run for president in 2016, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) already has $2.2 million in the bank that he could use for a potential presidential run.

After raising over $1 million for his "Rand Paul 2016" Senate campaign fund in the last fundraising quarter of 2013, Paul has $1.7 million of that re-election fund which can be transferred to a potential 2016 campaign. In addition, his political action committee, RAND PAC, has $500,000 in the bank.

"I am pleased that Senator Paul's fundraising strength shows his continued grassroots support, as well as a growing level of interest from all types of donors," Doug Stafford, RAND PAC's Executive Director, told Breitbart News. "He looks forward to an even more active 2014."

Paul is one of the potential 2016 candidates who may gain the most from Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's traffic scandal, especially among Wall Street and more establishment donors. Should he run, Paul is expected to do strongly in the "Live Free or Die" state of New Hampshire which hosts the nation's first primary. He may exceed expectations in Iowa, where Evangelical leaders have indicated that Paul may be a "force" if he unifies Evangelicals and those in the liberty movement in the first-in-the-nation caucuses.
