Jeff Sessions Selected As Attorney General

President-Elect Donald Trump has offered the role of Attorney General to Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, who has reportedly accepted the position.
Sessions was Trump’s first and most prominent supporter in the U.S. Senate; he endorsed the candidate back in February. He was one of the first Republicans to fully realize the power of Donald Trump’s populist-nationalist message.
"The elites have become international, and they’ve ceased to have a primary loyalty to the nation-state," Sessions said in April. "Republicans and Democrats do their fundraising cycles, and they go to Manhattan and they have their cocktails. They hear the whining of some billionaire and ask him for money, and they read The Wall Street Journal, bless its heart — great organization that it is, it’s not perfect. The American people are not Darwinian. We’re not Randian, in a total, brutal survival of the fittest," Sessions said.

A former U.S. attorney in Alabama and once nominated for a federal judgeship, Sessions not only has extensive legal experience, but is also one of the foremost experts in the Senate on the issue of illegal immigration. His experience would no doubt be crucial to enacting Trump's policy agenda on that issue.
Sessions has also been one of the Senate's leading voices of concern regarding the Obama administration's plans to resettle thousands of Syrian migrants in the United States. He no doubt will be involved heavily in the crafting of Trump's national security policies.
