The Rhodesia Syndrome

  1. The article presents the Rhodesia phenomenon in great detail, describing its state policy, with the mistakes that led to its rise and fall, in comparison with other states. A disastrous phenomenon is explained in this article, coined by the author as "Rhodesia Syndrome." The Rhodesia Syndrome is a phenomenon that camouflages communist-style socialist policies, and highlights racial injustice. This phenomenon is present also in America, coast to coast.

  2. Rhodesia was annexed by the United Kingdom in 1922 and became a British colony. In 1965, the White Conservative Party issued a unilateral declaration of independence, an act rejected by the United Kingdom. Rhodesia's independence is compared to the American Declaration of Independence. While in the United States case, the British sent troops, in Rhodesia they acted to isolate it internationally.

  3. Rhodesia was an integrated and prosperous state, but over time the Western powers neutralized the country's successes by applying economic sanctions. There was also some pressure to defend the South African interests, including their apartheid policy. In the end, the power was handed to a Marxist-Leninist dictator who proved to be a human-rights violator. Zimbabwe, the newly emerged state, was racist (anti-white) and poorly managed, with rampant corruption and a high inflation rate. The inevitable happened. From a prosperous states, Rhodesia, a.k.a. Zimbabwe, ended up being a country in ruins.
