Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich may be off of the perceived short list of potential running mates for nominee Trump.
Gingrich has been a vocal proponent of Trump, and for many, a suggested number two to the GOP ticket. That being said, for anyone who has been keeping up with this unfolding nightmare, we know that the gilded toad’s loyalties only run skin deep. He is sensitive and reacts poorly to criticisms.
Not very presidential, but then, the media and his blind followers aren’t looking for a president. They’re looking for the next big reality TV show.
On Sunday, Gingrich joined a cast of others in calling out Trump for his decidedly ignorant and racist statements about U.S. District Court Judge Gonzalo Curiel.
Curiel is the judge presiding over the fraud case involving Don the Con’s Trump University.
Trump disgusted many when he suggested last week that Curiel couldn’t be impartial in hearing the case, because he was “Mexican,” inferring that Curiel (who was actually born in Indiana) would somehow hold a bias against he and his wonderful, magical, mystery wall.
From the Washington Examiner:
“’This is one of the worst mistakes Trump has made,’ Gingrich, who’s been floated as a potential running mate for Trump, told Fox News.
‘I think it’s inexcusable. He has every right to criticize a judge, and has every right to say certain decisions aren’t right, and his attorneys can file to move the venue from the judge,’ Gingrich said. ‘But first of all, this judge was born in Indiana, he’s an American, period,’ he added.”
Whether Trump has been made aware of Gingrich’s objections by now or not, we can’t be sure, but what we can be sure of is it will do little to sway the behaviors of a nominee who seems intent on testing the limits of the media and the electorate’s tolerance for idiocy.
The sad part is, the worse he gets, the more insufferable his cult becomes, and that’s bad for our entire society.
