Dems Tried To Destroy Gowdy’s Benghazi Panel, But They Just Got Smacked With A Dose Of Reality
House Democrats recently put forward a vote seeking to disband the Select Committee on Benghazi, chaired by Representative Trey Gowdy, R-S.C.
The House of Representatives voted down the effort to disband the committee on Wednesday, though, on a party-line vote, 240-183.
This effort was led by Rep. Louise Slaughter, D-N.Y, the top Democrat serving on the House Rules Committee.
The Democrats argued that the Benghazi committee existed to harm Hillary Clinton rather than to investigate the Benghazi situation.
Hillary Clinton is scheduled to appearbefore the Benghazi committee on October 22nd.
Democrats seized on comments Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., made to Sean Hannity:
Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable, right? But we put together a Benghazi special committee, a select committee.
What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping. Why? Because she’s untrustable. But no one would have have known any of that had happened had we not fought and made that happen.
Representative Adam Schiff, D-Calif., stated: “If the Committee continues its abusive investigation, Democrats will have to consider how long our continued participation makes sense. We have no interest in lending legitimacy to a committee devoid of any.”
Trey Gowdy admitted that McCarthy frankly “screwed up.”
He stated on MSNBC’s Morning Joe: “Well, he is a friend, but my first reaction is, ‘Kevin, you’re wrong.’ Kevin has apologized as profusely as a human being can apologize.”
