FNC’S MCGLOWAN: WHY DIDN’T FIRST LADY POINT OUT SHE WAS AN AFFIRMATIVE ACTION BENEFICIARY

On Tuesday’s braodcast of FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” Fox News regulars Angela McGlowan and Jehmu Greene debated first lady Michelle Obama’s remarks at Tuskegee University in Alabama last weekend.

During the back-and-forth, McGlowan explained why she thought Obama’s remarks left much to be desired.

“By saying ‘we’ and ‘against us,’ it’s saying in essence there is a white oppressor, that there’s a system that’s against us,” McGlowan explained. “However, why didn’t the first lady share the reason why she got into Princeton was probably because of affirmative action? The reason she became an associate at a law firm was probably because of diversity — that they needed a woman. I’m not saying she wasn’t qualified. But they needed a woman, and a woman of color. That’s a twofer. Not saying she wasn’t qualified. Instead she talked about the negative parts of America. Now, do we have a level playing field in America? No. Is racism alive? Yes. Is sexism still alive? Yes. But being the first black first lady, I would have expected a more positive message.”
