It happened during a long and heated discussion on CNN about gay rights, the Constitution, and the state of Alabama’s reaction to court rulings on same-sex marriage.
The network’s co-host of the “New Day” program, Chris Cuomo, was going at it in a live interview with Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore, when Cuomo blurted out: “Our rights do not come from God. That’s your faith, that’s my faith, but that’s not our country.”
In its article on the fiery exchange between the two men and Cuomo’s assertion that “our rights do not come from God,” CNS News notes that the CNN anchor’s declaration is in direct conflict with the Declaration of Independence.
That all-important founding document of the United States clearly affirms: "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights….”
Not empowered by their government, or enabled by their elected officials, but “endowed by their Creator.”
