Political Correctness:'This is so stupid, it's appalling'

'This is so stupid, it's appalling'

ESPN NFL Analyst and NFL Hall of Famer Mike Ditka made his position on the Redskins' name controversy crystal clear Wednesday afternoon.

In an interview with Mike Richman, a 'Redskins Historian,' the former Super Bowl winning coach called the criticism of the Redskins' name "horse shit."

"What’s all the stink over the Redskin name? It’s so much horse shit it’s incredible."

"We’re going to let the liberals of the world run this world. It was said out of reverence, out of pride to the American Indian. Even though it was called a Redskin, what are you going to call them, a Brownskin?"

"This is so stupid, it’s appalling, and I hope that owner keeps fighting for it and never changes it because the Redskins are part of American football history, and it should never be anything but the Washington Redskins. That’s the way it is."

"These people are silly. Asinine actually, in my opinion. It’s all the political correct idiots in America, that’s all it is. It’s got nothing to do with anything else."

Ditka, a Chicago icon, made news last fall saying the 'biggest mistake I've ever made' was not running for the U.S. Senate  in 2004 vs. Barack Obama, a race the 44th President won.

"Not that I would have won, but I probably would have and he wouldn’t be in the White House," Ditka said.

The Redskins' name has come under scrutiny from many parties, including the U.S. Senate where 50 of the 55 Democrats members signed a letter supporting a name change.

Washington's owner, Dan Snyder, has remained steadfast in his conviction that the Redskins name will remain as long as he owns the team.
