White House Refuses to Signal Cooperation With Benghazi Committee

The White House is refusing to signal cooperation with the select Congressional Committee investigating the terrorist attacks on Benghazi.

During the White House Press briefing on Monday, Press Secretary Jay Carney refused to give a yes or no answer when asked repeatedly by reporters if the Obama administration would cooperate with the committee.

Instead Carney insisted the Republicans were continuing a "partisan" investigation of the attacks to feed “conspiracy theories” perpetuated by their party.

“Again what you have here is dissatisfaction, over I guess of the failure to prove any of these theories true and the decision to do it again, try it again, investigate the investigation,” Carney said.

Carney indicated that the White House would cooperate with “legitimate oversight” on the matter, but refused to comment about whether or not they considered the committee announced by House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) a legitimate investigation.

Liberal leaders have reportedly called for House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to refuse to name any Democrats to the commission, in the hopes of putting the committee's legitimacy into question. 

The White House signaled that they would leave that decision up to Congressional Democrats.

“We leave it up to Leader Pelosi and Democrats on the Hill to decide how they want to approach this,” Carney explained.
