Report: Amnesty Advocates Gearing Up to Pass Legislation After GOP Primaries

on Fri, 2 May 2014

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), as Breitbart Newsreported, let the cat out of the bag last year when he said amnesty advocates would make a final push for comprehensive immigration reform legislation once Republicans were clear of primaries in the spring of 2014.

After House GOP Conference Chair Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers said last week that she is hoping to get amnesty legislation on the House floor by August, more amnesty advocates told the Associated Press Friday that they are "mounting a final push to persuade the House to pass immigration legislation this summer, seeing one last window to act that will soon slam shut for good."

According to the Associated Press, amnesty advocates "note that midterm election primaries will largely be over by the end of June, freeing some House Republicans from the threat of a challenge from the right and perhaps liberating them to deal with a contentious issue like immigration." In addition, "business lobbyists and others say they are now aiming to elevate pressure on individual House Republicans" to support amnesty so there can be a "swell of support that would allow Boehner the space he needs to act. Some outside lobbyists say they can count scores of House Republicans who would be with them."

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who, along with Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL), called out the House GOP leadership's immigration principles as amnesty and stalled any momentum amnesty advocates may have had, recently held meetings with conservative opponents of amnesty in the House to strategize on how to oppose the push for amnesty that is imminent.

Stephen Miller, Sessions's communications director, said that American workers, who "have been battered for years of reckless immigration policies," need "a champion."

"Now is the moment for Republicans to take up their cause," he said.

Breitbart News has reported that prominent amnesty advocates like Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) have said that this year would be the last chance for massive amnesty legislation. More amnesty advocates have conceded to the Associated Press that if "they don't succeed by August," then "any chance of legislation will be over for the year, and all eyes will be on President Barack Obama to see if he acts on his own to curb deportations and accommodate some of the 11.5 million people here illegally," even though the notion that Obama is the "deporter-in-chief" has been thoroughly debunked by mainstream media outlets, think tanks, and conservatives.

The high-tech lobby is also reportedly gearing up to spend millions in the next three months to get more high-tech visas even though there is no proof that there is a shortage of American workers. The Congressional Budget Office has determined that amnesty legislation, by increasing the supply of foreign labor perhaps to the tune of 30 million people, will lower the wages of American workers at a time when a record number of Americans left the workforce and Democrats are clamoring for an increase in the minimum wage.

Sen. Jeff Sessions, who has fiercely given American workers a voice in the immigration debate, slammed Democrats for their "breathtaking" hypocrisy.

"They talk about fighting for workers, yet they colluded with some of the world’s most powerful financial interest groups to pass an immigration bill that would reduce Americans’ wages and surge their unemployment," Sessions said.
