Buchanan: GOP Thinks 'They're Riding Secretariat in the Derby with ObamaCare and They May Well Be'

On Thursday’s broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren,” former Reagan and Nixon presidential adviser Pat Buchanan explained to fill-in host Dana Perino how congressional Republicans should play ObamaCare against the president headed into next year’s midterm elections.

“Republicans think they’re riding Secretariat in the Derby with ObamaCare, and they may well be, Dana,” Buchanan said. “I mean this rollout is a disaster and it looks to me by the time we get to the election it’s not going to get any better and in some aspects it’s going to get worse. These insurance companies are going to start coming up short. I think Medicaid is going to explode. There are people who are going to lose their doctors. People are going to pay higher premiums and I think if those employer mandates go into effect toward the end of the year, a lot of folks are going to find out – another tranche of them – that they’ve lost their health insurance. So I think the Republicans are relying on the heavily. And that’s why I think they may be reluctant to do battle on some of these other issues where the president has got a popular stand, like minimum wage.”
