Obama's Priority: Save Democrats, Not the Sick

Obama's Priority: Save Democrats, Not the Sick

on Sun, 17 Nov 2013

The President Americans were told was “brilliant” suddenly does not seem to know much of anything, least of all about his own signature health reform law.

What he does know, however, is that Democrats hoping to regain control of the House and keep the Senate are in a panic over the disastrous launch of ObamaCare. While Barack Obama lies and manipulates to calm fearful Democrats, what can be said of parents of sick children who are fearful that ObamaCare’s high costs and bureaucratic red tape will prevent them from getting the health care their children need?

On Thursday, a caller to Rush Limbaugh’s radio show illustrated the fear that ObamaCare has inspired in many Americans who have seriously ill children.

The father of a six year-old girl, born with multiple birth defects, called in to say that he and his wife had decided to move up the date of their little girl’s eighth surgery – one they would have preferred to postpone because of her many other medical issues – due to “all the changes that Obama’s made to the way health care works.”

The caller said, “we’re having to jump the gun and get that done now because there’s a possibility that we might lose insurance at the end of the year through her [his wife’s] company… and be forced into the exchanges.”

RUSH:  You might be cancelled, that's right, or your daughter might not end up being covered. You know, once the Health and Human Services secretary looks at the case and looks at the how much money might be required versus the success possibility, that's what they can do once they get total control of this.

CALLER:  That's exactly right. And, you know, the whole thing about, "Well, is this medically necessary?" Right now we're traveling out of state so she can get better coverage than available to us locally, and we wouldn't be able to do that.

RUSH:  Yeah, but it sounds like what you're doing is you're actually taking action now just to make sure you can take action.

CALLER:  That's exactly right.

RUSH:  You sound to me like you're worried that you might not be able to actually do the surgery if you wait too much longer.

CALLER:  That's right.

RUSH:  Or afford it, one of the two.

CALLER:  Yeah. That's exactly right.

RUSH:  Okay. Now, Dawn's husband, thanks for the call. I appreciate it. Now, folks, stop at what we just heard. Stop and think what we just heard. Dawn and her husband might be totally wrong. We don't know. Their fears might be ungrounded, but their reality is that they're scared to death. The reality that they are being forced to live with because of this mess is that the surgery for their daughter would ideally come months from now, but they are afraid to wait because they think it might not be allowed or they might not have the insurance for it or they might not be able to afford it.

Now, you can sit there and say, "Well, they're just being paranoid, Mr. Limbaugh." The reality is, this is what this is doing to people. Dawn and her husband are real people, and their daughter is a real six-year-old who has real problems. And the parents are like any other parents. They want the best for their daughter. And they're scared because they don't know enough about what the future holds. They don't know if they're going to be allowed, permitted, what have you.

As Limbaugh went on to say, there’s a new player in the health care “equation, and it is the leviathan, and it’s the one thing nobody can control, and the one thing nobody can predict, and the one thing they know that really doesn’t care about their daughter.”

The work Barack Obama and his minions are doing now is saving their own political hides. Regardless of the number of unilateral “tweaks” and temporary waivers they “grant,” their recklessness and arrogance are creating fear in the hearts of millions of Americans with sick children and family members because, as Limbaugh said, their health care decisions are “not up to them anymore.”

The ObamaCare disaster, and the insurers’ hopes to benefit from it, are blatant signs that Americans need to be in charge of their own health care, making their own decisions without someone else telling them how much money can be spent on their health care and when and where to have it provided. Meanwhile, Obama will not be calming Americans’ fears – he is too busy saving himself and his party.
