House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) slammed Attorney General Eric Holder after an investigation by Goodlatte's committee reported discrepancies between Holder's congressional testimony and decision to approve a search warrant for emails from Fox News Correspondent James Rosen.
"I find the lack of leadership at the Department of Justice extremely alarming," Goodlatte said in a statement on Wednesday. "The deceptive and misleading testimony of Attorney General Holder is unfortunately just the most recent example in a long list of scandals that have plagued the Department."
The report released by the Judiciary Committee on Wednesday said Holder's testimony included misleading information on his involvement in a Justice Department search warrant of Rosen's emails.
The Justice Department approved a warrant as part of an investigation into whether Rosen leaked confidential intelligence information regarding North Korea.
The Judiciary Committee report said that Holder "inappropriately interpreted the Privacy Protection Act of 1980 to obtain a search warrant for Mr. Rosen's emails" as well as gave "deceptive and misleading testimony before the Committee" regarding the approval of the warrant.
