Gore: Apocalyptic Events Forcing GOP to Accept Global Warming

on Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Former Vice President Al Gore, taking time out from massaging his second chakra, tried tomassage the public’s perception of climate change by insisting world-shaking events have made it crystal clear that global warming is occurring and some GOP members are beginning to join him on the issue.

Gore told the Washington Post on Wednesday:

A lot of Republicans have shared with me privately their growing discomfort with the statements of some of the deniers in their ranks. Even though they’re not yet willing to come back to advocate constructive policies, there is definitely movement . . . many Republicans who’re still timid on the issue are now openly embarrassed about the extreme deniers. The deniers are being hit politically. They’re being subjected to ridicule, which stings.

Gore even went Biblical:

Every night on the news, it’s like a nature hike through the Book of Revelations. People are noticing this. And simultaneously they’re noticing the sharp drop in the cost of carbon-free, greenhouse gas-free energy, and the combination is pushing us over this political tipping point and the trend is unstoppable.

Gore used Hurricane Sandy’s effect last year to bolster his erudite scientific claim depicted in his 2005 film, “An Inconvenient Truth” of ocean water flooding the World Trade Center memorial site. He said, “It happened last Oct. 29, years ahead of schedule. And the impact of that and many, many other similar events here and around the world has really begun to create a profound shift.”

Gore spoke of cataclysmic events, starting with storms, saying, “They’re stronger now. The extreme events are more extreme. The hurricane scale used to be 1-5 and now they’re adding a 6. The fingerprint of man-made global warming is all over these storms and extreme weather events.”

The five Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke John, and . . . Al?
