NSA Leaker Supported Ron Paul, Believed Obama on Civil Liberties
on Sun, 9 Jun 2013
The self-reported NSA leaker Edward Snowden apparently donated some $500 to Ron Paul’s presidential campaign in 2012. In 2008, he voted for a third party candidate, but he believed that Barack Obama’s presidency would walk back what he perceived to be the privacy rights violations of the Bush Administration.
“A lot of people in 2008 voted for Obama,” he told The Guardian (UK). “I did not vote for him. I voted for a third party. But I believed in Obama’s promises. I was going to disclose it [but waited because of his election]. He continued with the policies of his predecessor.”
